Programs for Parents and Children        

 CHANCES offers a wide range of programs for parents and children that are focused on parenting, personal growth, and child development. For more information regarding specific programs along with the times, dates and places they are offered,refer to our brochure. We also have many evening sessions that are free and offered to everyone- just call to book a space. 

 Prenatal Program   (Special Delivery) 

Chances offers a prenatal series for expectant parents. Our Special Delivery sessions offer information and support in a relaxed and comfortable environment. All are welcome.

Building Incredible Babies

 New parents have an opportunity to build confidence with parenting by learning about:
Infant care – including feeding, nurturing, growth and development, well baby checks, when to call the doctor, immunization schedules and more.
Activities for you and baby to do together ‐ learning through play, reading to your baby
Taking care of yourself ‐ personal growth and development . A place to meet other moms with young babies. Be a proactive parent!

 Best Start

  The Best Start Program is a province wide in-home visiting program for newborn infants and their families who receive support until the baby is 24 months old. The program is offered in partnership with Public Health Nursing who provide screening and assessment services for newborn infants. This is a voluntary program that takes place in your home and supports the overall growth and development of your infant. Your Best Start Worker will bring information about all areas of infant development, answer your questions and bring along concrete activities for you to enjoy with your  baby. Brochure

Smart Start

Smart Start is based on a model of best practice that brings together licensed early learning and child development, kindergarten and family support. This community based program operates within a school , or in the community and is closely associated with a school. The program offers a comprehensive and continuous range of supports for families through all stages of their child's early development from prenatal to school entry.

Smart Start currently has two school based sites located at Prince Street Elementary (License # L4455) and West Kent             (License # L4487) in Charlottetown , PE and two community sites located at 24 Ferry Road in Cornwall, PE ( License # L4461) and 110 Mason Road in Stratford, PE (License # L4470). An Infant Development Centre is located on 16 Brighton Road in Charlottetown, PE as well as a Smart Start program located at the Kirk of St. James on 35 Fitzroy St. in Charlottetown, PE.
